What is the deadline for paying annual dues?
We begin collecting dues in September to pay registration fees for the upcoming year of scouting. The Pack must complete its re-chartering in early December each year and thus all dues must be paid in full by November 30. This is also the time when payment for a Scout Life magazine subscription should be paid by as that is submitted as part of the re-chartering.
What is covered in my annual dues payment?
Everything the Pack collects for dues is submitted to the Twin Rivers Council. This supports all of the scouting services and programming at the District and National level, including insurance. Activities organized by the Pack itself are subsidized by the annual fundraising efforts of the Pack. This primarily takes the form of Popcorn sales in the fall.
What annual fundraising requirements are there?
Rather than charge every family more upfront to fund all of the programming put on by the Pack, scouts are given the opportunity to earn it. This is done via the annual Popcorn sales. The Pack relies on its annual popcorn sales to fund its activities. As such, each family is expected to help sell a minimum amount of popcorn each year.
The Pack organizes "Show and Sells" at nearby stores (i.e. Lowes, Stuarts, etc.) where scouts can work at a table for a 2 hour block on a Saturday or Sunday to sell popcorn to customers entering or leaving that store. One shift can often meet the minimum requirement for a scout, with 2 shifts almost always doing so.
Alternatively, if a family wishes not to participate in the fundraising they can make a donation in the following amounts to the Pack to make up for the shortfall.
- $100 for an individual scout
- $125 for a family (multiple scouts)
If a scout or family sells some popcorn but falls short of the minimum, a pro-rated donation amount will be calculated.

Other Questions
Which is it, Pack 232 or Pack 1232?
Both are correct. We typically go by the shorter Pack 232 (easier to say and fit on the uniform). This number is unique to us within New York State. However, worldwide there are other Pack 232's. Our full number that uniquely identifies our Pack globally is thus Pack 1232. There are few use cases where leaving that additional number off would matter and thus we often just use the shorter 232 in daily practice.
